Jacques is a respected journalist who receives a mysterious job offer from the Vatican: lead a canonical investigation into the legitimacy of a reported vision of the Virgin Mary. Arriving in a small French village at the scene of the apparition, he encounters the young visionary, and local clergy with hidden motives. As Jacques begins to uncover the truth, his own beliefs are profoundly shaken.
