The Promise är en klaustrofobisk berättelse om Maja och det löfte hon har gett sin nu avlidna syster: Att hon ska ta hand om sin 15-åriga systerson, Mathias. Men sedan hans mamma gick bort har Mathias varit bråkig och i dåligt sällskap och när Mathias kidnappas av ett hänsynslöst gäng som utpressar och hotar att döda honom måste Maja rädda sin systerson.
