After Pete (Philip Ettinger) attempts suicide for the umpteenth time in his life, his overbearing father Warren (Academy Award-winner J.K. Simmons) recruits his little brother Jake (Daniel Diemer) to drive Pete from Albuquerque to Seattle for a family intervention.
