Tragedy strikes and the Monty gang gather. Gaz acts on the spur of the moment when he sees an injustice and an illegal event is planned. Meanwhile, Jean and Dave realize their problems stem from them never having dealt with the loss of their child. Gaz steps up to the plate as a friend and a father to Destiny and shows he is capable of change. The whole gang reflects on the last 25 years of friendships, old and new.

Running away from some disastrous decisions, Jean flees a school excursion and gets lost overnight in the woods with Hetty and her mother, Margaret. Dave needs a friend and calls Gaz back into his life. A plan is hatched to find Jean, and as the night progresses, everyone must do some soul-searching if the search is going to succeed. Meanwhile, Destiny is doing her own running away and, in the process, drags best friends Cal and Tabani into trouble alongside her. The night finally makes it clear where Destiny’s heart lies. Horse’s friends begin to realize what he has been going through when he gets a diagnosis. Selfless to the last, Horse gives help to someone he believes needs it more—Horse’s heart may be big, but it is weaker than he realizes.

At the job center, Horse reaches breaking point. However, a rogue and unpredictable bystander refuses to let the moment go, and suddenly, Horse’s protest takes a dramatic turn. One by one, the Monty Men pull together to try and save Horse. In the process, Yvonne discovers that Guy has been less than truthful with her. Can the Monty Men do what they do best and save the day?

Gaz, a man who thrives on danger, starts to realize the effect his actions have on others. Over at Spires Academy, Jean has to deal with her sacked best friend hating her, her marriage in big trouble, and a good-looking deputy head, Dilip, offering a way out of all her troubles.

The pair begin to bond, with Dave becoming a father figure and Twiglet taking the place of the child Jean and Dave lost. Neither Jean nor Dave has come to terms with losing their son Michael 12 years ago, and the time Dave spends with Twiglet only highlights the growing distance between them. Twiglet has a whole host of problems, and when Dave becomes much more involved in the boy’s life, it makes things more difficult between him and Jean. The rift deepens between Jean and Dave, causing Jean to put her marriage at risk. Meanwhile, Destiny’s own disturbed home life is taking its toll.

The joyride is short-lived when they discover an unwanted passenger in the back seat. It seems they have committed a bigger crime than they intended. Things go from bad to worse when they enlist teenage computer genius Tabani to help them erase online evidence, and Tabani sees a way to make more profit by escalating the crime. Out of her depth and turning to her dad for help, Destiny discovers that Gaz cannot be trusted. If Destiny was angry with her father at the start of this episode, by the end, she feels she will never forgive him.
