Ernesto, een Cubaanse acteur die besluit auditie te doen in Mexico, komt vast te zitten in de gigantische stad wanneer hij geen hoofdrol in een belangrijk toneelststuk kan krijgen. Hij loopt rond met een dilemma of hij met een verslagen gevoel terug moet keren naar Cuba als hij bij toeval Belén in de metro ontmoet. Ze is een spontane actrice die aan de passagiers verhalen vertelt in ruil voor wat geld.
