De 11-jarige Ducobu is een onverbeterlijke domkop die wederom van school gestuurd is. Zijn vader schrijft hem in op de Saint-Potache school waarbij hij hem waarschuwt dat wanneer zijn cijfers niet verbeteren hij hem naar een kostschool stuurt. Met dit in zijn achterhoofd en ondanks een sterke tegenstander in de vorm van zijn leraar Latouche ontwikkelt hij een grenzeloze vindingrijkheid in het bedriegen en spieken bij zijn klasgenoot Leonie, die de beste van de klas is.
