Het verhaal gaat over de gevluchte Francis uit Guinee-Bissau, die probeert een eerlijk leven te leiden in Berlijn. Door zijn status als illegale vluchteling blijkt dat praktisch onmogelijk. Francis valt in handen van manipulator en drugsdealer Reinhold. Francis verandert in Franz, een genadeloze crimineel.
