De tiener Ada is woonachtig in Senegal en heeft een relatie met Suleiman. Op een dag verdwijnt hij spoorloos en spoelen de lichamen van zijn vrienden aan op stranden in Dakar. Ada wacht ongeduldig op nieuws omtrent het lot van Suleiman, maar wordt intussen tegen haar zin uitgehuwelijkt aan een oudere man.
