Afghanistan. Août 2012. Un convoi américain escorté par la Légion espagnole explose sur une mine blessant deux soldats américains. Le lieutenant Conte, inexpérimenté, ordonne de protéger les blessés jusqu'à leur évacuation. Le capitaine Varela, médecin militaire, vient à la rescousse avec un hélicoptère. Mais l'hélicoptère a un problème forçant tout le monde à rester sur place. Maintenant, il faut protéger les blessés, les soldats, le bataillon médical et l'appareil accidenté. La tâche est difficile, chaque minute compte car se profile une bataille contre des insurgés afghans.
