Vigile dans un supermarché, Hagen souffre d'hyposomnie ; des rêves incessants et obsédants perturbent son sommeil. Bientôt, il est assailli d'images de sa femme Karoline le trompant avec un autre homme, un petit délinquant du nom de Niko, dont il semble partager le destin. Un matin, il voit le visage de Niko dans le reflet de son propre miroir.
