Roman Kogler, 18 ans, a déjà purgé la moitié de sa peine dans un centre de détention pour mineurs et pourrait être libéré sur parole. Il a cependant peu de chances : il n’a aucune famille et ne s’adapte pas en société. Après de nombreuses tentatives, il trouve un travail de réinsertion à la morgue de Vienne. Un jour, il tombe sur le cadavre d’une femme qui porte son nom de famille. Même s’il découvre vite que ce n’est pas sa mère, Roman part alors à la recherche de son passé et de sa mère.
