Au XIIIe dans une lugubre forteresse vivent un vieux seigneur jaloux, sa très jeune épouse Blanche, et son fils, adolescent amoureux de sa fragile belle-mère. Le roi, de passage chez son vassal, et son page succombent aussi au charme de la châtelaine, ce qui déclenche un drame où même l'innocence ne sera pas épargnée.
