Antoine Doinel a finalement épousé Christine Dabon. Le jeune homme est embauché dans une entreprise d'hydraulique après avoir quitté son travail de teinturier pour fleurs. Peu de temps après, Antoine rencontre Kyoko, une Japonaise avec qui il trompe Christine alors que celle-ci vient de mettre au monde leur fils Alphonse.
