Adrien, 40 ans, romancier tourmenté, écrit en attendant l’inspiration la vie d’illustres inconnus. Un vieil homme l’embauche pour lui raconter sa plus grande histoire d’amour : Solange, l’histoire d’une vie… Le récit d’Albert s’avèrera être en réalité les confessions d’un couple de tueurs en série dans la France des années 70. Entre fascination et répulsion, Adrien doit se rendre à l’évidence : ce "roman" a tout pour être bon.
