Skørtejægeren Samuel lever et sorgløst liv på Den Franske Riviera. Lige indtil engangsknaldet Kristin meddeler, at han er blevet far, overlader en lille pige til ham - og stikker af. Samuel slår sig ned i London og bliver en utraditional, men kærlig far til lille Gloria. Men otte år senere trues familielykken, da Kristin dukker op i deres liv igen.
