Djam es una joven griega que se marcha a Estambul, enviada por su tío Kakourgos, un antiguo marino y entusiasta de la música rebética, para buscar una pieza única que le falta a su barco. En Turquía, la joven griega conoce a Avril, una chica francesa de diecinueve años que está sola y sin dinero y que ha venido a Turquía como voluntaria para ayudar a los refugiados. Djam, joven generosa, insolente, imprevisible y libre, decide ocuparse de la chica hasta llegar a Mytilène. Empieza un viaje lleno de encuentros, música, camaradería e ilusión.
