El Sargento Terry Pulaski (Steven Weber) ha sufrido una fuerte lesión medular en acto de servicio que le impide moverse con facilidad. Esta situación le provoca una fuerte depresión ya que recibe la baja médica. Su mujer encuentra un buen día a un perro sin dueño que supondrá para Terry la mejor ayuda que podría tener, no solo para mejorar físicamente sino también anímicamente.
