Als seine Partnerin Susanne Koch morgens nicht wie gewohnt neben ihm im Bett liegt, weiß Kommissar Martin Brühl sofort, dass etwas nicht stimmt. Was er nicht weiß, ist, dass Susanne auf ihrem nächtlichen Nachhauseweg Zeugin eines Verbrechens geworden ist. Bei der Sprengung eines Geldautomaten wurde sie schwer verletzt und von den Tätern kurzerhand mitgenommen.
