Oskar is a sensitive physics student. Using a formula he worked out himself, he calculated that he would be alone for the rest of his life. Just when he tries to throw himself off a bridge, Frieda, the barwoman without a license, rescues him. She's running away with last night's sales and needs a getaway car. That's why Oskar can determine the destination: He would like to see a polar light.
