Hans Clarin spielt den Pfarrer Hannes Jagermüller, der wieder einmal alle Mühe hat, seine Schäfchen in der idyllischen Gemeinde St. Gilgen am Wolfgangsee unter Kontrolle zu halten. Sein Erzrivale, der Bürgermeister Oskar Lindner (Fritz Wepper), plant auf der „magischen" Trauungs-Wiese ein Skigebiet mit Hotellerie zu erbauen.
