Vincent, agente immobiliare quarantenne si reca a cena dalla sorella Elizabeth e dal cognato Pierre (entrambi docenti). È stato invitato anche Claude che è un orchestrale. In attesa della ritardataria moglie Anne, Vincent si trova al centro dell'attenzione. I due infatti stanno per avere un bambino. Tutto procede per il meglio sino a quando si tocca un argomento che dà il via a una serie di situazioni problematiche: il nome scelto per il nascituro.
