Charles Bosquier è il preside di un collegio di lusso francese. Il figlio Philippe non riesce a superare gli esami e l'uomo è troppo imbarazzato per iscriverlo ai corsi estivi della propria scuola. Decide quindi di mandarlo all'estero come studente alla pari e, per nascondere la decisione ad occhi indiscreti, accetta di ospitare una giovane inglese.
