Dicembre 1944. La Germania è sul baratro, in macerie: la guerra è oramai persa. Il ministro della propaganda Goebbels decide così di organizzare, in occasione del capodanno, un grande discorso per il Fueher, un discorso che possa incendiare gli animi e spingere il popolo tedesco alla riscossa. L'unico problema è che Hitler non può farlo, evita le apparizioni pubbliche, è stanco e depresso; la sola persona che può aiutarlo ad uscire dal torpore è un docente di teatro, il professore Adolf Gruenbaum....un ebreo.
