Una famiglia parte di prima mattina su una monovolume per evitare gli ingorghi del traffico delle vacanze estive. Programmando con il cruise control una velocità di 130 Km/h, il padre Tom procede spedito quando, a causa di un errore per cui dovrebbe girare indietro, si rende conto che non ha più il controllo dell'auto. Tutte le manovre per rallentare la macchina non sortiscono effetto.
