La famiglia Fellah si riunisce in una casa di riposo per festeggiare Emir, il nonno che ha perso la memoria. Emigrato dall'Algeria, comunista doc e patriarca ha ora tra le mani un libro pubblicato a spese dei parenti, che è stato realizzato con l'aiuto di un'amica che ha raccolto ricordi e documenti. Dopo questo ritrovarsi insieme Emir muore e le reazioni di chi resta sono le più diverse.
