Papá Noel no quiere jubilarse pero el reglamento lo exige: tiene que buscar a un joven aprendiz que pueda sucederle. El elegido será seleccionado entre millones de niños, tendrá que llamarse Nicolás, ser huérfano y tener un corazón limpio. En el otro extremo del planeta, vive un niño que cumple con todos esos requisitos pero por miedo y falta de autoestima no parece ser el candidato idóneo. ¿Consentirá el Papá Noel en ceder el poder y ayudar a su aprendiz a prepararse para ocupar su puesto?.
