Tras pasar algunos años en Buenos Aires, Agustín (Viggo Mortensen) vive desesperado y obsesionado con la idea de abandonar para siempre su frustrante vida en esa ciudad. Después de la muerte de Pedro, su hermano gemelo, Agustín se dispone a empezar una nueva vida asumiendo la identidad de su hermano y retornando a la misteriosa región del Delta del Tigre, donde transcurrió la infancia de ambos. Sin embargo, poco tiempo después de su regreso, Agustín se ve involuntariamente implicado en el peligroso mundo criminal del que su hermano había formado parte.
