A terrified Emma is held at gunpoint by Niko at his remote farmhouse. Her bewilderment gets further compounded when Niko claims he's trying to protect her from George. As Niko reveals the truth about him and George, Emma pleads for him to go to the police. Disgusted by his refusal, Emma returns to her hotel, where she sees a concerned and supportive Pete waiting for her.

After meeting Niko, Emma's holiday turns into a nightmare as she is visited in her police cell by a concerned Susie. When police detective Christina urges Emma to head home to the UK in the face of a lack of evidence, Susie agrees. Emma, though, is adamant that she isn't going to let Niko get away with this.

Still regrouping after her divorce from Pete, Emma decides that the best way to heal is to go on a holiday, choosing Cyprus, where she and Pete enjoyed holidays together in the past. Shrugging off her daughter Susie's criticism of her plan, she packs her bags and heads for the sun, checks into a beautiful beachfront hotel, and hopes to recover some of her joie de vivre.
