Die 14 jährige Millie hat es nicht leicht. Sie muß den Tod ihres Vaters überwinden, und ganz neu anfangen, nachdem ihre Mutter umziehen mußte. Eine neue Umgebung, eine neue Schule, und bald noch ein seltsamer Junge aus der Nachbarschaft, der ihre Aufmerksamkeit erregt. Eric ist autistisch, doch es scheint, als ob ihn ein großes Geheimnis umgibt. Millie versucht an den Jungen heranzukommen, in ihm etwas zu bewegen, doch dann soll Eric in ein Heim gesteckt werden. Als er wegläuft hilft ihm Millie, und die Lage spitzt sich dramatisch zu. Es scheint keinen Ausweg für die beiden Verzweifelten zu geben...
