Pierre Belcroix und Marcel Blanc sind Geiger und lebenslange Freunde, die in den 1920er Jahren in Paris lebten. Während Marcel berühmt geworden ist und Pierre nicht, sind beide glücklich mit ihrem Leben. Pierre ist glücklich verheiratet mit Romaine, einer stilvollen jungen Prallplatte. Marcel trifft sie jedoch und verliebt sich in sie, was Marcel wenig vermutet.
