2020 - Season 1

The River Avon rises in Northamptonshire and flows through five English counties. The programme looks at the river's links to William Shakespeare, Jane Austen, Victorian health resorts and the sport of rugby.

5. The River Severn

2020 - Season 1

A journey along the River Severn, Britain's longest river. It rises in Wales before flowing through England to the Bristol Channel, via Charles Darwin's childhood garden, Shrewsbury Castle and Worcester Cathedral.

4. The River Stour

2020 - Season 1

A journey along the Stour in Kent. From the source at the village of Lenham, through the ancient city of Canterbury and to the river's estuary on the edge of the English Channel.

3. The River Trent

2020 - Season 1

The River Trent is the third longest river in England after the Severn and the Thames, and flows from its source in Staffordshire all the way to its confluence with the River Ouse in Lincolnshire, where it forms the River Humber.

The story of the river Tyne, from the confluence of the North Tyne and South Tyne rivers to the sea, visiting Hexham Abbey, Newcastle-upon-Tyne and the Jarrow and Howden Ped Tunnel.

The story of the river Clyde, from its source to its estuary. Its history includes the invaders who made use of it, its vital role to Glasgow and the ship-building industry.
