En Barcelona, dos amigos encuentran únicamente trabajos eventuales. Uno deja de ser camarero para hacerse mensajero; el otro está trabajando como taxista. El mensajero, en su ir y venir nocturno, pasa por muchas oficinas, casas particulares y bares, y se ve en las situaciones más variopintas: unas tenebrosas, otras siniestras o patéticas, y algunas incluso agradables.
