Saturday’s Children

The third screen version of the play by Maxwell Anderson is a tender portrait of a young, working-class couple weathering precarious economic fortunes. On her first day at work at J. B. Martin Co., Bobby Halevy (Anne Shirley) meets idealistic, eccentric inventor Rims Rosson (John Garfield), and the two begin dating. Though Rims has dreams of traveling to Manila to pursue an idea for turning hemp into silk, he soon finds himself married and responsible for providing for a growing family.
