Die Handlung von Seegrund beruht auf tatsächlichen historischen Fakten. Am Alatsee bei Füssen wird am Ufer ein lebloser Taucher gefunden. Scheint so, doch das, was Kluftinger als Blutlache findet, ist tatsächlich eine rote Substanz aus dem See, und der leblose Taucher ist nicht so leblos, wie Kluftinger glaubt.
