Die Autorin und 68er-Ikone Jutta Winkelmann hat unheilbaren Knochenkrebs und wird sterben. Sie rutscht in eine spirituelle Krise. Um ihre eigene Essenz wiederzufinden, beschließt sie, noch einmal zu reisen. In Begleitung ihres langjährigen Freundes Rainer Langhans und weiteren Mitgliedern der Münchner Lebensgemeinschaft "Harem" macht sie sich auf nach Indien. Ihre Route geht über den Himalaya, die "Totenstadt" Varansi bis nach Kerela. Sie durchlebt intensive Erfahrungen, gesundheitliche Krisen und überwirft sich fast mit ihrer Begleitung.
