Ein Vater schickt seinen Sohn, den er Taugenichts nennt, in die Welt hinaus, da ihm dieser zu Hause keine Hilfe ist. Ohne Geld und Arbeit, nur mit seiner Geige ausgerüstet, durchwandert er die Lande und lebt seine Freiheit. Unterwegs verliebt er sich in die schöne Flora, die in einem Schloss wohnt und für ihn unerreichbar scheint.
