Nisha's first week as a nurse at the health centre begins badly when she clashes with Anna over the treatment of a dying patient who happens to be an old family friend. Since the departure of Kim Danny is finding it hard to juggle his job at the pub and look after his Niece Cady. Goddards form a campaign against the Greenwood's supermarket plan.

The Claytons arrive in Skelthwaite and decide to live a quieter life away from Sheffield. As usual Zoe gets too involved with a patients history. And Anna, David and Harding have to heartbreaking news of telling the workers at Goddard's that they are regretfully closing their doors.

David plans a weekend away for Anna and him, but to their dismay, the rest of their friends follow. Billy finally admits his love for late wife Sally and manages move on for himself and his family. Kim realizes that her relationship with Danny doesn't have a future and she says an emotional farewell before leaving for London with her son Callum.

The factory loses an important contract. After twenty years, Mark and Marla return to Skelthwaite. His deteriorating health affects his marriage and his relationship with a former friend.

A healthy eating talk is given at the factory by trainee nurse Zoe, but she makes a discovery about loyal worker Barry that shocks her. Zoe gets involved with a sexy Jonathan who is a stranger to her and this brings Anna's judgement into question. Harding's old adversary Robert Ashford has a business running in Skelthwaite. The rugby pitch gets waterlogged, so Billy persuades the players to have cookery lessons instead.

Zoe Phelps, an excitable trainee nurse starts work at the Health Centre. Billy plots a prank to get revenge on a rival rugby team. Skelthwaite clubs together and help 8-year-old Alfie Gough who is a heart transplant patient. A surprise proposal is made to the Boothes by Harding. The factory receives a mysterious offer to buy a piece of land nearby.
