Birth of Europe follows leading scientists on expeditions to the top of Europe's highest mountains, the bottom of its ancient seas and into its most remote and deadly corners to reveal how this complex continent evolved. Using spectacular graphics and CGI the inner workings of the Earth are revealed and its ancient monsters brought back to life.

This episode explores how the colossal fury of water and ice have shaped and molded Europe over thousands of years. Our team of intrepid geologists will venture deep into Europe's past, and deep underground to discover that much of her foundations were created by ancient seas. We will then explore the majestic glaciers that carve vast valleys from solid rock and find evidence that Europe was once a frozen continent; covered by ice kilometers thick.
