When high school students, Jim and Kathy, discover that their "Sleepy Weekend" film carries footage of a robbery that took place, they have differences of opinion. Kathy wants to turn in evidence to the police and Jim will do anything to win the $1,000 first prize offered by the Young Filmmaker's Film Festival.

Whether to play baseball or audition for the Inner-City Orchestra as a violinist becomes a trying problem for Curtis when his teammates threaten to smash his violin. The experience is so overwhelming that he runs away. The team loses and while feeling terribly dejected, Maury Wills comes from the bleachers to compliment the boys on their good work. He stresses that a game should be played for the fun one derives and not the winning. Learning to lose is one of the most important things of all. In another area, Billy and Mentor help Curtis understand that "To thine own self be true" is the way to solve his problem.

When two girls uncover stolen money and conceal the fact so they can give the money to a worthy cause... they wind up in deep trouble. It takes the pooled talents of four friends--Billy, Mentor, Capt. Marvel and Isis--to rescue the girls. The girls learn that a dishonest act cannot be justified by a good deed.

Bill Sherwood, a 12-year-old, hates waiting to grow up and his impatience oftentimes gets him into trouble. Once, Capt. Marvel comes to his rescue but that doesn't discourage Bill from trying to catch up to his big brother, Larry. An incident occurs when Larry almost loses his life due to Bill's lack of experience and Capt. Marvel saves him in the nick of time. The near tragedy shakes Bill, waking him to realize that he is still a boy. Billy encourages Bill, telling him that his realization is the first step toward growing up.

The obstacles to becoming a member of the bigoted Overlanders Boys' Club are rough. Yale Michaels finds he isn't wanted. However, with the aid of Yale's friends--Billy, Mentor and Capt. Marvel--they discover that the club is merely a front for artifacts smuggling from Mexico. And Yale wins the friendship of a club member who learns not to judge someone because he's different or worships differently.
