It is the final stretch of the six-year term and the race for the presidential succession begins amid the threat of a historic economic crisis. Allied with the CIA, Barrientos sets the foundation for the new and lucrative Mexican parastatal business: the narco-state. Meanwhile, Lucio Cabañas and his guerrilla cause a stir in Guerrero, putting Barrientos and his allies' plans in check.
