Julián es un reconocido fotógrafo que ha llegado a los 40 años, cansado, abandonado a su propia tristeza. Le acaban de descubrir un cáncer que va minando sus fuerzas. Pero comienza a asaltarle una imagen, una foto que nunca ha hecho, y que se le aparece insistentemente. Intuye que esa foto está en un lugar lejano, en la Patagonia, y decide emprender un largo viaje hasta allí.
