Ce dernier se méprend, et, croyant avoir affaire à une romancière célèbre, l'invite à dîner pour la remercier. Isabelle accepte par jeu mais ils se revoient, se revoient encore, et finissent par tomber amoureux. Isabelle, prise dans la tourmente de ses sentiments s'enterre dans le mensonge.
